THE BAG PRICE ISN'T
THE WHOLE STORY.
Here's how to calculate what your dog's food actually costs to feed each day.
FOUR STEPS. THAT'S IT.
FIND THE BAG SIZE
Look for the total weight printed on the bag.
Example: 22 lbs.
ESTIMATE THE CUPS
A simple starting point is approximately 4 cups per pound, unless the manufacturer provides a more specific amount.
22 lbs. × 4 = approximately 88 cups
FIND YOUR COST PER CUP
Divide the price of the bag by the estimated number of cups in the bag.
$79.99 ÷ 88 = about $0.91 per cup
FIND YOUR DAILY COST
Multiply the cost per cup by the number of cups your dog eats each day.
2 cups × $0.91 = about $1.82/day
